Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Façade Engineer to join our dynamic Building Envelopes team in Birmingham. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced engineer to work on a diverse range of high-profile architectural and engineering projects. You will be responsible for the design, analysis, and implementation of innovative façade solutions, ensuring performance, aesthetics, and sustainability are met. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and analysis of complex building façades, including various material systems (glass, metal, stone, composites).
- Perform structural, thermal, and acoustic analysis of façade systems using advanced software.
- Develop detailed technical specifications, reports, and drawings for façade designs.
- Collaborate closely with architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers, and clients throughout project lifecycles.
- Conduct site inspections and quality assurance checks during construction phases.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, new materials, and innovative construction techniques.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the team's technical development.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables effectively.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in façade design or engineering.
- Strong understanding of façade systems, materials, and construction methods.
- Proficiency in relevant design and analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, Grasshopper, FEM packages like ANSYS/ABAQUS, WUFI).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards it.
- Experience with building physics, daylighting analysis, and energy performance simulation.
- Knowledge of relevant British Standards and European Codes (e.g., EN, BS).
- Previous experience working on international projects.
- Proficiency in scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, C#).
