Job Description

Join Barwon Health as a Linen Assistant, playing a vital role in our hospital logistics team. This routine, ongoing position involves managing and distributing linen supplies across various departments, ensuring a consistent and hygienic environment for patients and staff. You will be instrumental in maintaining our high standards of cleanliness and efficiency, contributing directly to patient comfort and operational flow within a dynamic healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sort, count, and distribute clean linen to designated hospital wards and departments.
  • Collect soiled linen from various areas, ensuring proper handling and transportation for laundry processing.
  • Maintain accurate records of linen inventory and distribution.
  • Operate and maintain linen carts and other equipment safely.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Report any linen shortages, damage, or equipment malfunctions promptly.
  • Assist with the replenishment of linen cupboards and storage areas.
  • Collaborate effectively with nursing, cleaning, and logistics teams.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and pushing linen carts.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in counting and sorting.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Understanding and adherence to workplace health and safety protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a hospital, laundry, or similar service-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices within a healthcare setting.
  • Current First Aid certificate.
  • Valid driver's license (desirable for inter-departmental transport, if applicable).
