Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Radiography Assistant to join our busy Radiology Department. In this vital role, you will support our Radiographers and healthcare professionals in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services. You will assist with patient preparation, comfort, and safety, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient journey through various imaging procedures. Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with preparation for radiography examinations, including changing and positioning.
- Provide compassionate care and support to patients before, during, and after imaging procedures.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety at all times, including monitoring their well-being.
- Prepare examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness, tidiness, and stocking of supplies.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control policies and procedures.
- Safely transfer and escort patients to and from the radiography department.
- Process patient paperwork and input data accurately into the hospital's information systems.
- Support Radiographers with technical tasks under direct supervision.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Handle patient enquiries and provide information as required, maintaining confidentiality.
- Participate in departmental meetings and continuous professional development activities.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated empathy and a caring approach towards patients.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic IT literacy and ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work under supervision.
- Physical stamina to assist with patient mobility and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare support role or customer service.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Healthcare Support or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Understanding of medical terminology.
- Familiarity with hospital environments or diagnostic imaging procedures.
