Job Description

Are you organized, customer-focused, and eager to learn? We are looking for a dedicated Hardware Store Sorter to join our dynamic team in Camden Town. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining an organized and efficient store environment, ensuring products are readily available for our customers. Beyond sorting, you’ll engage directly with customers, assisting them with inquiries and providing friendly service. This position includes comprehensive training to develop your product knowledge and customer interaction skills, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or grow their career in retail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Efficiently receive, unload, and accurately sort incoming deliveries of hardware and home improvement products.
  • Organize and replenish stock on shelves and in storage areas, adhering to merchandising guidelines and safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment in the stockroom, sales floor, and customer service areas.
  • Proactively assist customers with product location, selection, and basic usage information.
  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing queries and directing customers to appropriate colleagues or departments.
  • Participate actively in all provided training sessions covering product knowledge, operational procedures, and customer service best practices.
  • Operate store equipment safely, such as pallet jacks and trolleys, following all safety protocols.
  • Contribute to regular inventory counts and assist with stock rotation to minimize waste.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving items weighing up to 20kg regularly.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills for stock management and customer assistance.
  • A strong work ethic and the ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team.
  • Enthusiasm to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced retail environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a retail, warehouse, or customer service role.
  • Familiarity with hardware products, DIY, or home improvement supplies.
  • Proven track record of providing excellent customer service.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
