Job Description

Join Sweetwater’s innovative team as a Music Software QA Tester, playing a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our cutting-edge music software and audio applications. This position is 100% remote, offering you the flexibility to work from anywhere while collaborating with a passionate team of engineers and musicians. You will be responsible for meticulously testing software, identifying bugs, and providing detailed feedback to enhance user experience and product performance. This role requires a keen ear for audio, a solid understanding of music production workflows, and a commitment to delivering flawless user experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for music software products, including DAWs, plugins, and utility applications.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects using bug tracking systems, ensuring clear and concise reporting.
  • Perform functional, regression, performance, and compatibility testing across various operating systems and hardware configurations.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams and product managers to understand product features and technical requirements.
  • Provide detailed reports on testing progress, defect status, and overall product quality.
  • Contribute to the improvement of QA processes, methodologies, and test automation strategies.
  • Test software across different audio interfaces, digital audio workstations (DAWs), and peripheral devices.
  • Reproduce customer-reported issues to assist in timely resolution and improve customer satisfaction.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (2+ years) in software quality assurance, with a strong preference for music or audio technology.
  • Strong understanding of music production workflows, including experience with major DAWs (e.g., Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio) and audio plugins (VST, AU, AAX).
  • Familiarity with various operating systems (Windows, macOS) and mobile platforms.
  • Experience with bug tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla, Asana).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration in a remote setting.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently as part of a distributed team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Audio Engineering, Music Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks and scripting (e.g., Python, Selenium, Cypress).
  • Understanding of agile development methodologies and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Professional experience as a musician, audio engineer, or sound designer.
  • Knowledge of audio hardware, signal flow, and digital audio principles.
