Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Summer Camp Nurse to join our team for the upcoming camp season. This is a unique opportunity to provide essential healthcare services in an engaging outdoor environment, ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of campers and staff. The ideal candidate will be an energetic, adaptable Registered Nurse committed to fostering a safe and healthy camp experience. Seasonal housing and meals are included, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the vibrant camp community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive first aid and emergency care to campers and staff.
- Administer prescribed medications accurately and maintain detailed records.
- Assess and treat minor illnesses and injuries, referring to local physicians as needed.
- Manage and maintain health center supplies and equipment.
- Implement and enforce camp health and safety policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding camper health status.
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records for all campers and staff.
- Collaborate with camp directors and staff to promote a healthy camp environment.
- Participate in staff training and orientation sessions.
Required Skills
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nevada.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with children and adolescents.
- Patience, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to maintain composure in emergency situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- At least one year of experience in pediatric, school, or camp nursing.
- Knowledge of American Camp Association (ACA) health and safety standards.
- Experience in an outdoor or camp setting.
