Job Description
Are you a high school student or recent graduate with a passion for helping younger students succeed? Sylvan Learning of Naperville is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated High School Tutors to support elementary school students in various subjects. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in a child’s academic journey, develop your teaching skills, and gain valuable work experience in a professional learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring in elementary subjects such as Math, Reading, and Writing.
- Deliver engaging and personalized instruction based on Sylvan's curriculum and student needs.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain a positive, encouraging, and safe learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with center directors and parents regarding student performance and goals.
- Complete administrative tasks as required, including session documentation.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in high school or a recent high school graduate.
- Strong foundational knowledge in elementary school subjects (Math, Reading, Writing).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help children learn.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual learning styles.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience tutoring, mentoring, or babysitting.
- Demonstrated leadership or volunteer experience.
- Strong academic record in elementary and middle school subjects.
- Availability during after-school hours and weekends.
