Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Center Porter to join our team at Spire Bradford Hospital. This vital role ensures the smooth day-to-day operation of our clinic by providing essential support services. You will be responsible for the safe and timely transport of patients, equipment, and medical supplies, contributing significantly to the efficiency and quality of our patient care. This position requires excellent communication skills, a proactive attitude, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organised environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients, including those with mobility challenges, between departments using appropriate methods and equipment.
- Move medical equipment, furniture, and supplies efficiently and carefully throughout the clinic.
- Assist clinical staff with patient transfers and positioning as required.
- Collect and dispose of general and clinical waste in accordance with hospital policies and health and safety regulations.
- Manage and distribute clean linen, and collect soiled linen for laundering.
- Deliver and collect patient samples, laboratory specimens, and medical records.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of storage areas, trolleys, and transport equipment.
- Respond promptly to requests from medical and administrative staff, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including infection control and patient confidentiality.
- Provide compassionate and professional interaction with patients and visitors.
Required Skills
- Excellent physical stamina and the ability to lift, push, and pull equipment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centred approach.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and highly organised.
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures.
