Job Description

Are you looking to make a meaningful impact in your community on weekends? Meals on Wheels Conejo Valley is seeking compassionate and reliable individuals to join our team as Part-time Volunteer Support for our Weekend Meals on Wheels program. This crucial role involves assisting with meal preparation, packing, and delivery to homebound seniors and individuals with disabilities in Thousand Oaks. Your dedication will help ensure our clients receive consistent nutritional support and a warm human connection during the weekend. This is an on-site position based out of our Thousand Oaks facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the safe and hygienic packing of meals for delivery routes.
  • Load meal containers into delivery vehicles.
  • Deliver meals to clients' homes along assigned routes, following established protocols.
  • Provide a friendly and brief social interaction with clients during delivery, adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Report any client concerns or changes in condition to the program coordinator promptly.
  • Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries and client interactions.

Required Skills

  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Compassionate and empathetic attitude.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle with current insurance.
  • Ability to lift and carry meal bags (up to 20 lbs).
  • Must pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous volunteer experience, especially with seniors or in food service.
  • Familiarity with the Thousand Oaks area.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
