Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and adaptable Substitute Music Teachers to join our vibrant team across Ark Schools in the Victoria, London area. This role offers flexible days, making it ideal for individuals looking for temporary, part-time work with an immediate start. As a Substitute Music Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and high-quality music lessons, maintaining a positive classroom environment, and ensuring the continuity of learning for our students. You will cover for absent permanent staff, teaching a range of musical concepts and instruments appropriate to the curriculum and student age group.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver pre-planned music lessons effectively and engagingly to students of various age groups and abilities.
- Manage classroom behavior according to school policies, fostering a respectful and productive learning environment.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students under your supervision.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress as required.
- Collaborate with school staff to ensure a smooth transition of teaching and learning.
- Adapt teaching methods to suit individual student needs and different classroom settings.
- Supervise students during non-instructional times, such as lunch or break, if required.
- Adhere to all school policies and procedures, including safeguarding guidelines.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to teach music across various age groups (primary or secondary).
- Strong musical proficiency in at least one instrument or vocal discipline.
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
- Ability to quickly build rapport with students and staff.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK.
- Flexibility and adaptability to cover various classes and year groups.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Previous experience as a substitute teacher or in a similar temporary teaching role.
- Experience with diverse musical genres and teaching methodologies.
- Knowledge of the UK National Curriculum for Music.
