Job Description
Are you passionate about language, phonetics, and the nuances of human speech? Google is seeking a detail-oriented and flexible Voice Assistant Trainer with a strong focus on pronunciation. In this role, you will play a crucial part in enhancing the linguistic capabilities of our voice AI, ensuring our products understand and respond with impeccable clarity. You will analyze speech data, identify pronunciation discrepancies, and help refine our voice models to deliver a seamless and natural user experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and annotate large datasets of spoken language, specifically focusing on pronunciation accuracy and naturalness.
- Identify and categorize pronunciation errors, dialectal variations, and speech patterns.
- Develop and implement pronunciation guidelines and rules for our voice AI systems.
- Collaborate closely with linguists, speech engineers, and product teams to integrate pronunciation improvements.
- Provide constructive feedback on model performance and contribute to the iterative development process.
- Participate in quality assurance processes to maintain high standards of speech output.
Required Skills
- Exceptional English pronunciation and a deep understanding of phonetics and phonology.
- Superior listening skills with the ability to discern subtle speech nuances.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical capabilities.
- Proficiency in using speech annotation tools and linguistic analysis software.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a flexible work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Speech Pathology, Phonetics, or a related field.
- Prior experience in speech data annotation, linguistic analysis, or voice assistant training.
- Familiarity with various accents and dialects of English.
- Experience with ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition) or TTS (Text-to-Speech) technologies.
- Fluency in additional languages is a plus.
