Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Technical Writing & Documentation Intern to join our dynamic team in Burnaby, BC. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in creating, editing, and maintaining technical documentation for our various software products and tools. You will work closely with development, quality assurance, and product teams to ensure our user manuals, guides, and internal documentation are clear, accurate, and comprehensive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in writing, editing, and proofreading technical documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, API documentation, and online help content.
  • Collaborate with engineers and product managers to understand complex technical concepts and translate them into clear, concise, and user-friendly language.
  • Maintain and update existing documentation to reflect product changes and new features.
  • Conduct research and gather information from various sources to ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation.
  • Organize and structure content for optimal readability and accessibility.
  • Learn and apply industry best practices for technical writing and documentation.

Required Skills

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong command of English grammar and style.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meticulously proofread and edit.
  • Basic understanding of software development concepts and terminology.
  • Proficiency with common office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs).
  • Ability to learn new software tools and technologies quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with documentation tools such as Confluence, Zendesk Guide, or similar content management systems.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, or other web-based markup languages.
  • A portfolio of writing samples (academic or personal projects) demonstrating technical writing ability.
  • Interest in the video game industry or software development.
