Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Solar Installation Supervisor to join our growing team in Wandsworth, London. This pivotal role involves overseeing the safe and efficient installation of solar PV systems on residential, commercial, and industrial properties. You will be responsible for leading installation teams, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, comprehensive knowledge of solar PV technologies, and a commitment to excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise solar installation teams on-site, ensuring adherence to project plans and schedules.
- Conduct pre-installation site surveys and assessments to determine optimal system designs and layouts.
- Oversee the safe handling, installation, and commissioning of solar PV panels, inverters, racking systems, and associated electrical components.
- Ensure all installations comply with relevant industry standards, building regulations, and safety protocols (e.g., MCS, NICEIC, health and safety legislation).
- Provide technical guidance and training to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Manage inventory of materials and tools on-site, ensuring efficient use and minimizing waste.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients on-site, addressing any concerns and providing regular progress updates.
- Complete all necessary documentation, including installation reports, commissioning checklists, and health and safety records.
- Conduct quality control inspections to ensure workmanship meets EDF Renewables UK's high standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that may arise during installation.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in solar PV installation and supervision.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and relevant regulations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations pertinent to construction and electrical work.
- Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
- Valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Technology or equivalent.
- MCS Accreditation knowledge/experience.
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- Specific solar PV installation certifications (e.g., City & Guilds 2399-01, Logic Certification).
