Job Description
Join Lennar’s dynamic Real Estate Development team as a Quantity Surveying Intern. This is an unparalleled opportunity for students or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in the critical aspects of cost estimation, budget management, and procurement within the residential development sector. You will work closely with experienced Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers, contributing to live projects and understanding the full lifecycle of real estate development from a financial perspective. This internship is designed to provide comprehensive exposure to the practical application of surveying principles in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, budget breakdowns, and bills of quantities for various project stages.
- Support the tendering process, including reviewing contractor bids and preparing tender analysis reports.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress, measure work completed, and assist with interim payment valuations.
- Help manage and update project cost databases and financial tracking systems.
- Assist in the identification and mitigation of commercial risks.
- Participate in project meetings, taking minutes and tracking action items related to cost and procurement.
- Learn to interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and other technical documentation.
- Support the team in preparing final accounts and ensuring contractual compliance.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of quantity surveying principles and construction processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam).
- Previous experience or coursework related to real estate development or construction finance.
- Knowledge of local building regulations and codes in North Carolina.
