Job Description

We are seeking an outstanding and visionary School Principal / Headmaster to lead one of our key academies in Barrow-in-Furness. This pivotal role requires an inspirational leader with a proven track record of educational excellence, strategic management, and a deep commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving academic achievement, nurturing student well-being, and strengthening community partnerships. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide inspirational and strategic leadership, guiding the academy towards sustained improvement and excellence.
  • Oversee all aspects of school management, including curriculum development, staff performance, budget management, and student welfare.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that promotes high expectations, respect, and a love of learning.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to raise attainment and ensure all students achieve their full potential.
  • Build strong relationships with students, staff, parents, governors, and the wider community.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop a highly effective team of teaching and support staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and Oasis Community Learning policies.
  • Manage the school's resources effectively to ensure optimal educational outcomes.
  • Champion safeguarding and promote the welfare of all students.

Required Skills

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a school setting (e.g., Headteacher, Deputy Head, Assistant Head).
  • Demonstrable track record of raising educational standards and improving student outcomes.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum development, assessment, and effective pedagogy.
  • Financial acumen and experience in managing school budgets.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Knowledge of current educational policy and best practices.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and develop staff and students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH).
  • Master's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Experience working within a multi-academy trust framework.
  • Experience with school improvement initiatives in challenging contexts.
