Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and vigilant individuals to join our team as Unarmed Federal Courthouse Security Guards in Saint John, New Brunswick. This vital role involves maintaining a safe and secure environment for all visitors, staff, and judicial personnel within the federal courthouse premises. As an Unarmed Security Guard, you will be the first point of contact for many, requiring excellent customer service skills alongside a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to security. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor access points and screen individuals entering the courthouse.
- Conduct regular patrols of the facility, both interior and exterior.
- Respond to and report any suspicious activities, disturbances, or emergencies.
- Provide clear and concise directions and information to visitors and staff.
- Operate security equipment, including CCTV and access control systems.
- Enforce courthouse rules and regulations.
- Complete detailed incident reports and daily activity logs.
- Administer basic first aid or call for emergency medical services as needed.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid New Brunswick Security Guard License (or ability to obtain one prior to employment).
- Clear criminal record check.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong observational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Basic computer proficiency for report writing and system monitoring.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in security, customer service, or a public-facing role.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of federal security protocols and procedures.
- Proficiency in both English and French.
