Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Neonatal ICU (NICU) Nurse with advanced training to join our dedicated team. This pivotal role involves providing specialized nursing care to critically ill and premature infants in our state-of-the-art Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in neonatal critical care, advanced assessment skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, high-quality nursing care to neonates with complex medical conditions, including premature infants, infants with respiratory distress, surgical needs, and genetic disorders.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments, monitor vital signs, and interpret complex data to identify changes in patient condition and intervene appropriately.
  • Administer medications, therapies, and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accuracy and patient safety.
  • Operate and maintain specialized equipment such as ventilators, incubators, and monitoring systems.
  • Collaborate effectively with neonatologists, pediatricians, respiratory therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Educate and support families regarding their infant's condition, treatment plan, and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough electronic health records.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and advanced training to stay current with best practices in neonatal care.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

Required Skills

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent experience in a Level III or IV NICU setting
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Advanced assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency in administering complex medications and managing advanced life support equipment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to patient and family-centered care

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Specialty certification in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (RNC-NIC)
  • Experience with electronic health record systems (e.g., Epic)
  • Prior experience as a charge nurse or preceptor in a NICU setting
