Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Rehabilitation Music Aide to join our Physical Therapy Support team on an ongoing basis. In this vital role, you will assist physical therapists by integrating music-based activities into patient rehabilitation programs, helping to motivate, engage, and support patients in achieving their therapeutic goals. This position is perfect for individuals passionate about the healing power of music and eager to make a tangible difference in patients’ recovery journeys. You will work directly with patients under the supervision of licensed physical therapists, contributing to a positive and therapeutic environment at our Wichita facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement music-based activities as directed by physical therapists to support rehabilitation goals.
- Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, ensuring proper technique and safety, often using music as a motivational tool.
- Prepare and organize musical instruments, playlists, and other equipment for therapy sessions.
- Observe and report patient progress, engagement, and any concerns to the physical therapy team.
- Provide encouraging and supportive interactions with patients and their families.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe therapy environment.
- Document patient participation and observations accurately.
- Collaborate effectively with physical therapists and other healthcare professionals.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in at least one musical instrument (e.g., guitar, keyboard, percussion) or strong vocal ability.
- Basic understanding of music theory and its application.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Empathy, patience, and a compassionate demeanor.
- Ability to follow instructions precisely and work effectively in a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Physical ability to assist patients with movement and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting.
- Certification in music therapy, or pursuit of a degree in music, psychology, or a related healthcare field.
- Familiarity with various musical genres and their therapeutic potential.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification.
