Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Registered Dental Nurse to join our busy and friendly team in Oxford. This role involves providing comprehensive support to our dentists and hygienists, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient journey, and maintaining the highest standards of clinical care and infection control. You will be an integral part of our team, contributing to a positive patient experience and a well-organised clinic.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists and hygienists during a wide range of dental procedures, including routine check-ups, restorative treatments, endodontics, and minor oral surgery.
  • Prepare and maintain the clinical environment, ensuring all instruments are sterilised and correctly set up for each appointment.
  • Provide excellent chairside assistance, anticipating the needs of the clinician and ensuring patient comfort.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, updating dental charts and ensuring all consent forms are properly completed.
  • Process radiographs in accordance with IR(ME)R regulations.
  • Manage stock control for dental materials and instruments, ensuring adequate supplies are available.
  • Adhere strictly to all infection control guidelines and health and safety protocols.
  • Provide post-operative instructions and advice to patients as directed by the clinician.
  • Assist with reception duties and administrative tasks as needed, including booking appointments and handling patient enquiries.

Required Skills

  • Current GDC registration as a Dental Nurse.
  • Proven experience working as a Dental Nurse in a clinical setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and colleagues.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in using dental software and patient management systems.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Sound knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and materials.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional qualifications such as radiography, impression taking, or oral health education.
  • Experience with SOE Exact dental software.
  • First Aid certification.
