Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled R&D Scientist to join our dynamic Pharmaceutical R&D team in Santa Maria, California. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, executing, and interpreting complex experiments to drive the discovery and development of novel therapeutic candidates. The successful candidate will contribute to multiple projects, applying expertise in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or pharmacology to advance our pipeline from early-stage research through preclinical development. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute experimental protocols, including in vitro and in vivo studies, to investigate biological mechanisms and evaluate potential drug candidates.
- Analyze and interpret complex scientific data, troubleshoot experimental issues, and present findings to cross-functional teams.
- Contribute to the development and optimization of novel assays and experimental models relevant to drug discovery.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues across various departments, including discovery biology, toxicology, and clinical development.
- Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records, prepare technical reports, and contribute to scientific publications and presentations.
- Stay current with scientific literature and industry trends to propose innovative research directions.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulatory requirements in the laboratory.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. in Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or a related life science discipline with 4+ years of post-doctoral or industry experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, cloning, Western blot, ELISA).
- Proficiency in cell biology techniques, including cell culture, transfection, and flow cytometry.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with statistical analysis of biological data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex scientific information clearly.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Experience with laboratory automation and data management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in drug discovery or preclinical development within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Familiarity with in vivo pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) studies.
- Proficiency with specialized software for data analysis (e.g., GraphPad Prism, FlowJo, Spotfire).
- Track record of scientific publications or patent contributions.
- Prior experience with CRISPR/Cas9 or other gene editing technologies.
