Job Description
We are seeking highly motivated and compassionate Psychiatric / Mental Health Nurses to join our dynamic team. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, including risk assessments, for patients.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, their families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Administer medication safely and effectively, monitoring for side effects and therapeutic response.
- Provide therapeutic interventions, including psychoeducation, crisis intervention, and supportive counseling.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records, adhering to NMC guidelines and Trust policies.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring their rights and preferences are respected.
- Participate in ward rounds, clinical meetings, and case conferences.
- Supervise and mentor junior staff, students, and healthcare assistants.
- Engage in continuous professional development and training opportunities.
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients and staff.
Required Skills
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Mental Health Nurse.
- Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience in a mental health setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of mental health legislation, policies, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and empathy skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate and confidential patient records.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a specific mental health specialty (e.g., forensics, acute inpatient, community).
- Post-graduate qualification in a mental health-related field.
- Experience with therapeutic interventions such as CBT or DBT.
- Evidence of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Proficiency in additional languages relevant to our diverse patient population.
