Job Description

We are seeking highly motivated and compassionate Psychiatric / Mental Health Nurses to join our dynamic team. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, including risk assessments, for patients.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, their families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Administer medication safely and effectively, monitoring for side effects and therapeutic response.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions, including psychoeducation, crisis intervention, and supportive counseling.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records, adhering to NMC guidelines and Trust policies.
  • Act as a patient advocate, ensuring their rights and preferences are respected.
  • Participate in ward rounds, clinical meetings, and case conferences.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff, students, and healthcare assistants.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and training opportunities.
  • Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients and staff.

Required Skills

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Mental Health Nurse.
  • Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience in a mental health setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mental health legislation, policies, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and empathy skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate and confidential patient records.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a specific mental health specialty (e.g., forensics, acute inpatient, community).
  • Post-graduate qualification in a mental health-related field.
  • Experience with therapeutic interventions such as CBT or DBT.
  • Evidence of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in additional languages relevant to our diverse patient population.
