Job Description
We are seeking a highly professional and discreet Private Club Porter to join our esteemed team at The Cavendish Club. This role is crucial in maintaining the club’s exceptional standards of service and ensuring the comfort and security of our members and guests. The ideal candidate will possess an unwavering commitment to discretion, an impeccable service ethic, and the ability to anticipate and fulfil needs with efficiency and grace. As a Porter, you will be the first point of contact for many members, embodying the club’s values of elegance and exclusivity. This role demands a proactive approach, attention to detail, and a readiness to assist with a variety of tasks while upholding the utmost confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet members and guests warmly upon arrival, assisting with luggage, coats, and personal belongings with the highest level of discretion.
- Manage and direct traffic, ensuring seamless member access and parking arrangements.
- Provide information and assistance regarding club facilities, services, and local amenities.
- Assist with the delivery and collection of packages, mail, and other items for members and club operations.
- Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the club's entrance, lobby, and designated member areas.
- Conduct regular patrols to ensure the security and safety of the premises, reporting any unusual activities or concerns.
- Support various departments with logistical tasks, including setting up for events, moving furniture, and light maintenance duties.
- Act as a point of contact for external services and deliveries, ensuring smooth coordination.
- Respond promptly and courteously to all member requests, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism at all times, respecting member privacy.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a customer service or hospitality role, preferably within a luxury environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a polished and professional demeanour.
- Unwavering commitment to discretion and confidentiality.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical fitness to handle luggage and perform duties requiring standing, walking, and lifting.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- A proactive attitude and the ability to anticipate needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Porter, Concierge, or within a private members' club.
- A clean UK driving license.
- Basic first aid certification.
- Knowledge of local attractions and services in Derby and the surrounding area.
