Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Procurement & Vendor Management Intern to join our Purchasing team in Baie-Comeau. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the critical functions of procurement, supply chain management, and vendor relations within a leading global manufacturing company. The successful candidate will support various purchasing activities, contribute to cost-saving initiatives, and assist in maintaining strong vendor partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the daily processing of purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Conduct research on potential suppliers and market trends to support sourcing decisions.
  • Help manage vendor relationships, including communication, performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
  • Support the negotiation of terms and conditions with suppliers to secure favorable agreements.
  • Participate in projects aimed at improving procurement processes and reducing costs.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, and engineering.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on procurement activities and vendor performance.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Fluency in English and French (written and spoken) is an asset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (academic project or prior internship) in a business or administrative role.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Basic understanding of procurement principles and supply chain operations.
