Job Description
Join Jamaica Post as a Seasonal Postie Assistant during our busiest periods, helping us ensure timely and efficient mail and parcel delivery across various provinces. This temporary role is perfect for energetic and reliable individuals looking to contribute to a vital public service and gain valuable experience in a dynamic environment. You will be an integral part of our team, supporting our postal workers in sorting, preparing, and delivering mail, especially during peak holiday seasons and special campaigns. This on-site position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellent service.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist postal workers with sorting and organizing mail, parcels, and packages for delivery.
- Load and unload mail from vehicles and prepare it for dispatch.
- Support delivery routes, which may include walking or driving alongside postal workers.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment within the postal facility.
- Ensure the accurate handling and security of all mail items.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and postal procedures.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and carry mailbags and parcels (up to 50 lbs/23 kg).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent time management and reliability.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform duties in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Jamaican driver's license (Class B or C) and a clean driving record.
- Previous experience in a logistics, delivery, or customer service role.
- Familiarity with local geography and street networks in Kingston and surrounding areas.
