Job Description

Join Nextbike UK as a City Bike Share Fleet Mechanic and play a vital role in maintaining our public bike fleet in Pontypridd. This hands-on outdoor role involves ensuring our bikes are safe, functional, and readily available for our users. You’ll be part of a dedicated team focused on sustainable urban transport, working outdoors in various weather conditions. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on our fleet of shared bicycles, including brakes, gears, tires, and frames.
  • Perform on-site diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Transport bikes between stations for rebalancing, repairs, and deployment using company vehicles.
  • Utilize provided tools and technology to log maintenance activities and report fleet status.
  • Ensure all maintenance work meets safety standards and company quality guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work vehicle and equipment.
  • Respond promptly to dispatch requests for bike repairs or assistance in the field.
  • Provide excellent customer service when interacting with the public.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in bicycle mechanics or similar mechanical fields.
  • Strong understanding of bicycle components and repair techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an outdoor environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid UK driving license with a clean record.
  • Physical fitness and ability to lift and move bikes, and work in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cytech qualification or equivalent professional bicycle mechanic certification.
  • Experience with electric bikes (e-bikes) or public bike-sharing systems.
  • Familiarity with local Pontypridd area roads and cycle routes.
  • Basic IT skills for using maintenance tracking software.
