Job Description
Join BASF’s dynamic team in Jersey City, NJ, as an Associate Chemist I through our New Graduate Program. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct experiments and perform laboratory tests under the guidance of senior chemists.
- Operate and maintain a variety of laboratory instruments and equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
- Collect, record, and analyze experimental data, interpreting results and identifying trends.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations summarizing experimental findings.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and quality control procedures in the laboratory.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, sharing knowledge and contributing to project goals.
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities, including formal mentorship sessions.
- Maintain an organized and clean work environment, managing chemical inventory and waste disposal.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related scientific field.
- Strong foundational knowledge of general, organic, and analytical chemistry principles.
- Hands-on experience with basic laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
- Proficiency in data analysis and report writing.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to laboratory best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship or co-op experience in an industrial laboratory setting.
- Experience with advanced analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC-MS, Spectroscopy).
- Participation in undergraduate research projects with demonstrable results.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
