Job Description
Join Omnicare as a Pharmacy Triage Technician, where you will play a crucial role in our long-term care pharmacy operations. This full-time position operates Monday through Friday, offering a consistent schedule to support work-life balance. As a Triage Technician, you will be the first point of contact for incoming inquiries, prescribers, and facility staff, ensuring efficient and accurate processing of medication orders and addressing client needs. Your ability to prioritize tasks, communicate effectively, and maintain meticulous attention to detail will be vital in supporting our pharmacists and ensuring timely delivery of essential medications to our long-term care residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for incoming calls and inquiries from long-term care facilities, prescribers, and internal staff.
- Triage and prioritize incoming faxes, e-prescriptions, and other communication channels for new orders, refills, and clarifications.
- Accurately input prescription data into the pharmacy system, ensuring all patient and medication information is correct.
- Collaborate with pharmacists to resolve discrepancies, obtain missing information, and address complex medication requests.
- Process prescription transfers, prior authorizations, and insurance-related issues as needed.
- Maintain strict adherence to all federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations and company policies.
- Assist with inventory management tasks, including stocking and organizing medications, as directed.
- Provide exceptional customer service, maintaining a professional and empathetic demeanor with all callers.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current with pharmacy practices and company procedures.
Required Skills
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification preferred, or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in a long-term care or retail pharmacy setting.
- Strong understanding of pharmacy operations, medication terminology, and dispensing processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse individuals.
- Proficiency in pharmacy software systems and general computer applications.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize work, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with an Omnicare or similar long-term care pharmacy system.
- Advanced data entry and keyboarding skills.
- Familiarity with insurance adjudication and third-party billing procedures.
