Job Description
The Glendale Unified School District is seeking a diligent and reliable Part-time Maintenance Hand to support the upkeep of our school facilities primarily on weekends. This role is essential for ensuring our campuses remain safe, clean, and well-maintained for students, staff, and community events. The successful candidate will perform a variety of general maintenance tasks, including minor repairs, cleaning, setting up for events, and ensuring the overall operational readiness of school buildings and grounds during non-school hours. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and trash removal.
- Conduct minor repairs to fixtures, furniture, and building components (e.g., changing light bulbs, tightening loose hinges, basic plumbing fixes).
- Assist with setting up and breaking down equipment for school and community events held on weekends.
- Ensure all facilities are secure and accessible as required for weekend activities.
- Monitor and report any major maintenance issues or hazards to the Facilities Manager.
- Perform grounds keeping tasks such as litter removal, basic landscaping, and ensuring pathways are clear.
- Replenish supplies in restrooms and common areas.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and district policies.
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of general maintenance and repair techniques.
- Ability to operate standard cleaning equipment and hand tools.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to facility upkeep.
- Reliability and punctuality, especially for weekend shifts.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand, walk, bend, and climb ladders regularly.
- Valid California Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in school or public facility maintenance.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures in an educational setting.
