Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Pacific Coast Mitigation Monitor to join our high compliance sector team in Pasco, Washington. This role is critical for ensuring environmental mitigation projects adhere strictly to regulatory requirements, environmental permits, and project specifications. The Mitigation Monitor will be responsible for conducting field inspections, documenting site conditions, and reporting on compliance status for various environmental restoration and construction projects along the Pacific Coast. This is an on-site position requiring frequent travel to project sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular on-site inspections of environmental mitigation measures during construction and post-construction phases.
- Ensure strict adherence to federal, state, and local environmental regulations, permits, and project-specific mitigation plans.
- Document all field observations, non-compliance issues, and corrective actions through detailed daily reports, photographs, and logs.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, contractors, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders regarding compliance status and issues.
- Identify potential environmental risks and propose proactive mitigation strategies.
- Assist in the preparation of compliance reports and other regulatory submissions.
- Conduct sampling and data collection as required for environmental monitoring programs.
- Train and guide project personnel on environmental best management practices (BMPs) and compliance requirements.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to project planning and problem-solving.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Natural Resources, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental monitoring, compliance, or field-based environmental work.
- Strong understanding of federal and state environmental regulations (e.g., NEPA, CWA, ESA) relevant to mitigation.
- Proficiency in field data collection, including GPS usage and accurate report writing.
- Ability to interpret environmental permits, plans, and technical specifications.
- Excellent observational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in various outdoor and potentially challenging weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel frequently to project sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant environmental discipline.
- Experience with Pacific Northwest ecosystems and species.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CPESC, CISEC).
- Experience working on linear infrastructure or large-scale construction projects.
- Familiarity with GIS software for mapping and data management.
- First aid and CPR certification.
