Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and responsible University Shuttle Driver to join our team at the New Port Richey campus. This campus-based position offers stable hours and plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of students, faculty, and staff across campus and to designated off-campus locations. The ideal candidate will possess excellent driving skills, a strong commitment to safety, and a friendly, service-oriented demeanor. You will be an essential part of the campus operations, providing a welcoming and reliable transit experience for our community members.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate university shuttle buses safely and efficiently on scheduled routes.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, university policies, and safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance of the shuttle bus.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, including those with disabilities, as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service, answering passenger questions and providing directions when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and passenger counts.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and other university personnel.
- Respond to emergencies or incidents according to established protocols.
- Ensure punctuality and adherence to the transportation schedule.
Required Skills
- Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
- Strong understanding of traffic laws and defensive driving techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Punctuality and reliability.
- Physical ability to operate a shuttle bus and assist passengers as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger endorsement (Class B or higher).
- Previous experience operating a commercial vehicle, shuttle bus, or similar large passenger vehicle.
- Knowledge of the New Port Richey area and university campus layout.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience working in a university or educational setting.
