Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Outpatient Pharmacy Technician to join our busy retail setting in Berkeley, CA. In this vital role, you will support our pharmacists in dispensing medications, managing inventory, and providing exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists with the preparation and dispensing of prescription medications, including counting, pouring, and labeling.
- Process prescription orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring all necessary information is collected and verified.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating medications.
- Provide friendly and professional customer service, handling inquiries, processing transactions, and resolving issues.
- Maintain patient profiles, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies and procedures related to pharmacy practice.
- Operate point-of-sale systems and other pharmacy technology.
- Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment.
- Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current California Pharmacy Technician License or ability to obtain prior to start
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Basic computer proficiency
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail or outpatient setting
- Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
- Knowledge of pharmacy software systems (e.g., RxConnect)
- Familiarity with insurance billing and third-party adjudication
