Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous Non-Sterile Compounding Technician with a strong focus on custom medication preparation to join our Calgary team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately preparing a wide range of non-sterile compounded medications, ensuring strict adherence to quality standards, safety protocols, and regulatory guidelines. This position requires precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient care through personalized pharmaceutical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately weigh, measure, and mix pharmaceutical ingredients to prepare non-sterile compounded medications as per prescriptions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Operate and maintain compounding equipment, ensuring proper calibration and cleanliness.
  • Perform quality control checks on raw materials and finished products.
  • Maintain meticulous records of compounding formulas, ingredients, batch numbers, and expiry dates.
  • Adhere strictly to all provincial and federal regulations, as well as company policies regarding compounding practices, safety, and hygiene.
  • Manage inventory of compounding ingredients and supplies, including ordering and proper storage.
  • Collaborate effectively with pharmacists and other pharmacy staff to ensure timely and accurate medication preparation and delivery.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with compounding best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pharmacy Technician certification or equivalent relevant diploma.
  • Previous experience (1+ year) in non-sterile pharmaceutical compounding, preferably with a focus on custom medication.
  • Knowledge of relevant compounding guidelines and regulations (e.g., NAPRA standards in Canada).
  • Familiarity with various compounding software systems.
