Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and reliable Night Porter to join our vital healthcare team. This role is crucial for maintaining the safety, security, and smooth operation of our facilities during the night. The successful candidate will be a key point of contact for staff, patients, and visitors, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment. This position comes with a high night shift differential, recognizing the critical nature of night-time operations in a healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Secure the hospital premises, including regular patrols and monitoring CCTV systems.
- Respond promptly to alarms and emergency calls, following established protocols.
- Control access to the building, greeting and assisting visitors, patients, and staff.
- Provide assistance with patient transfers, mobility, and general support as required by clinical staff.
- Handle incoming and outgoing deliveries, ensuring proper logging and distribution.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks or report major issues to appropriate departments.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of incidents, patrols, and visitor information.
- Support the smooth operation of services, including setting up rooms for meetings or clinics.
- Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of reception and communal areas during night shifts.
- Act as a first point of contact for enquiries, providing information or directing individuals to the correct department.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Strong sense of responsibility and reliability.
- Basic IT literacy for logging and record-keeping.
- Physical fitness to perform duties including patrols and assistance with transfers.
- Discretion and respect for patient confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a porter, security, or customer service role, preferably within a healthcare environment.
- First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
- Full clean UK driving license (desirable for potential inter-site duties).
