Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Music Audition Coach to join our esteemed faculty. This role is crucial for students aspiring to pursue music at the collegiate level, including conservatories, universities, and music schools. The successful candidate will provide individualized and group coaching, preparing high school students for successful music auditions, scholarship applications, and college entrance requirements. This position requires a deep understanding of various musical genres, audition processes, and pedagogical best practices tailored to advanced students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized audition preparation plans for high school students seeking admission to college music programs.
  • Provide expert coaching on performance technique, repertoire selection, music theory, ear training, and sight-reading.
  • Conduct mock auditions, offering constructive feedback and strategies for improvement.
  • Guide students through the college application process, including essay writing, interview skills, and portfolio development where applicable.
  • Collaborate with students, parents, and academic advisors to set realistic goals and track progress.
  • Stay current with audition requirements and trends at various colleges, conservatories, and music schools.
  • Organize and lead workshops or masterclasses on audition preparation topics.
  • Maintain a supportive and encouraging learning environment that fosters student growth and confidence.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in at least one primary instrument (e.g., piano, voice, strings, winds, brass, percussion)
  • Extensive knowledge of music theory, harmony, and music history
  • Proven experience in coaching or teaching advanced music students
  • Strong understanding of college music program audition processes and expectations
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and learning styles
  • Bachelor's degree in Music Performance, Music Education, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Doctorate in Music Performance or Music Education
  • Prior experience as an admissions committee member or faculty member at a collegiate music program
  • Demonstrated success in helping students gain admission to top-tier music schools
  • Familiarity with various music software and recording technologies for audition submissions
