Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Mechatronics Engineering Intern to join our Automated Systems team in Falmouth, Cornwall. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the design, development, and testing of advanced automated systems. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced engineers, contributing to real-world projects that involve the integration of mechanical, electrical, and software components. This role is ideal for students looking to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical industrial setting and develop essential skills in mechatronics.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, assembly, and testing of mechatronic systems and prototypes.
- Contribute to the development of control software and algorithms for automated equipment.
- Conduct experiments, collect data, and analyze results to optimize system performance.
- Participate in troubleshooting and debugging of electromechanical systems.
- Document design specifications, test procedures, and project progress.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.
- Research new technologies and methodologies to enhance automated processes.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Familiarity with electrical circuit design and basic electronics.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C++, MATLAB).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi) and sensor integration.
- Knowledge of control systems theory and robotics.
- Previous project experience involving automated systems or robotics.
- Familiarity with simulation tools for mechatronic systems.
