Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our operations team as a Local Council Invoice Processor. This entry-level administrative role is perfect for someone looking to start their career in finance and administration within a large, supportive organisation. You will be responsible for accurately processing invoices related to local council services, ensuring timely payments and maintaining meticulous records. Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for candidates with little to no prior experience but a strong desire to learn and contribute.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process a high volume of local council invoices accurately and efficiently.
  • Verify invoice details against purchase orders and contracts to ensure compliance.
  • Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers to resolve discrepancies or queries.
  • Maintain organised and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
  • Prepare payment runs and ensure all approved invoices are paid on schedule.
  • Assist with month-end closing procedures related to accounts payable.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as regulatory guidelines.
  • Utilise various financial software and systems for data entry and processing.

Required Skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous administrative or data entry experience (including voluntary work).
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles or financial software.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics at grade C/4 or above.
