Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Kitchen Helper / Dishwasher to join our vibrant hotel kitchen team in Inverness. This is a crucial full-time role for someone eager to contribute to a smooth-running kitchen operation and ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. Key Responsibilities
- Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks, such as washing, peeling, and cutting ingredients.
- Operate and maintain dishwashing machinery, ensuring all dishes, cutlery, and cooking utensils are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.
- Manually wash pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment that cannot be machine-washed.
- Keep the kitchen area clean, organized, and tidy, including work surfaces, floors, and storage areas.
- Empty bins and ensure waste is disposed of correctly.
- Receive and store deliveries, checking for quality and quantity.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations and standards.
- Support chefs and cooks as needed during busy service periods.
- Report any maintenance issues or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude within the kitchen team.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail regarding cleanliness and hygiene.
- Good physical stamina, capable of standing for long periods and lifting moderate weights.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of kitchen operations or a willingness to learn quickly.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as per the kitchen schedule.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen or hospitality environment is a plus, but not required.
- Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 1 or 2) is advantageous, but training will be provided.
