Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and passionate Audio Sample Labeler with a focus on music and voice to join our remote team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in improving Google’s audio-based AI and machine learning models by accurately annotating and categorizing various audio data. This position is ideal for individuals with a keen ear, an understanding of musical structures, and an ability to discern nuances in human speech. You will work independently to analyze, tag, and segment audio files, contributing directly to the quality and effectiveness of cutting-edge voice recognition, music identification, and other audio-driven technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately label and transcribe audio samples, identifying specific sounds, speech patterns, and musical elements.
  • Categorize audio content based on predefined guidelines, including genre, instrumentation, vocal characteristics, and emotional tone.
  • Segment audio files into distinct units, marking start and end times for specific events (e.g., speech, music, silence).
  • Identify and report any anomalies, inconsistencies, or technical issues within the audio data.
  • Contribute to the refinement of labeling guidelines and best practices.
  • Maintain high levels of accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced, remote work environment.
  • Collaborate with team leads and quality assurance specialists to ensure data quality standards are met.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of musical concepts, genres, and instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in distinguishing various speech characteristics, accents, and emotional tones.

  • Proficiency with standard computer software and web-based annotation tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background or academic experience in music theory, sound engineering, linguistics, or related fields.
  • Prior experience with audio annotation, transcription, or data labeling.
  • Familiarity with various audio file formats and basic audio editing software.
  • Experience working with large datasets and contributing to AI/ML projects.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving project requirements and feedback.
