Job Description
As a Junior UI/UX Researcher Student Placement at Google, you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to real-world projects and gain invaluable experience within one of the world’s leading technology companies. This role is designed for students eager to learn and apply fundamental user experience research principles under the guidance of experienced researchers. You will support various research initiatives, helping to uncover user needs, behaviors, and motivations that inform the design and development of Google’s products and services. This placement will provide a comprehensive understanding of the UX research lifecycle, from planning and execution to analysis and reporting, within a fast-paced and innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and conducting a variety of UX research methods, including usability studies, interviews, surveys, and competitive analyses.
- Support the recruitment of research participants and manage participant logistics.
- Help analyze qualitative and quantitative data, identifying key themes, patterns, and actionable insights.
- Contribute to the creation of research reports, presentations, and other deliverables to communicate findings to product teams.
- Collaborate with UI/UX designers, product managers, and engineers to integrate research insights into the product development process.
- Maintain accurate and organized research documentation and assets.
- Actively participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and mentorship opportunities.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in HCI, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Information Science, Design, or a related field.
- Foundational understanding of user-centered design principles and UX research methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Demonstrated eagerness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with qualitative and/or quantitative research tools (e.g., survey platforms, remote testing software) through academic projects or personal initiatives.
- Basic understanding of statistical analysis methods.
- Portfolio demonstrating academic projects or personal work related to UI/UX research or design.
- Familiarity with Google products and services.
