Job Description

California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) invites enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as a Junior Policy Analyst. This is a unique opportunity for recent graduates or career changers with no prior experience in policy analysis to kickstart their career in public policy through a structured mentorship program.
As a Junior Policy Analyst, you will be an integral part of our research and policy development initiatives. You will work alongside experienced policy professionals, gaining hands-on experience in all facets of policy analysis, from research and data collection to report writing and stakeholder engagement. Our comprehensive mentorship program is designed to equip you with the foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary to excel in the field, fostering your professional growth and contributing to meaningful change.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on various public policy issues, gathering data from diverse sources.
- Assist in the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data to identify trends and inform policy recommendations.
- Support senior policy analysts in drafting reports, briefs, presentations, and other policy documents.
- Participate in team meetings, workshops, and training sessions to deepen understanding of policy processes and methodologies.
- Help organize and maintain research databases and reference materials.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on specific projects.
- Present findings and preliminary recommendations to team members.
- Continuously learn and apply new analytical tools and policy frameworks.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities

- Demonstrated interest in public policy, government, or social issues
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, Sociology, Urban Studies, or a related field
- Basic understanding of research methodologies or statistical concepts
- Previous coursework or projects related to policy analysis or public administration
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus
