Job Description
Amgen is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Occupational Health Nurse to join our corporate team in Thousand Oaks, CA. This pivotal role focuses on promoting the health and well-being of our employees within a professional corporate office environment. The successful candidate will be instrumental in providing direct nursing care, managing occupational injuries and illnesses, conducting health screenings, and implementing wellness programs. This is a day-shift position with no weekend requirements, offering an excellent work-life balance while contributing to a healthier workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses, including assessment, treatment, and referral.
- Manage workers' compensation cases, ensuring timely documentation and appropriate follow-up.
- Conduct pre-placement and periodic health assessments, including screenings and immunizations.
- Develop and implement health promotion and disease prevention programs.
- Collaborate with HR, Safety, and other departments to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee health records.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid as needed.
- Educate employees on health and safety topics.
- Participate in ergonomic assessments and recommendations for workstation adjustments.
Required Skills
- Current active Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in occupational health, emergency medicine, or critical care.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workers' compensation laws.
- BLS certification (Basic Life Support).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN or COHN-S) certification.
- Experience in a corporate or biotechnology environment.
- ACLS certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
- Experience with travel health and international employee support.
