Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Inpatient Pharmacy Aide to join our team for night shifts. This crucial role supports the Pharmacy Department in delivering safe and effective medication management to patients within a hospital ward setting. The Inpatient Pharmacy Aide will be responsible for a variety of tasks that ensure the smooth operation of pharmacy services, primarily focused on medication handling, inventory management, and clerical duties. This position requires an individual who is reliable, possesses excellent organizational skills, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment during overnight hours. You will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacists and nurses, contributing directly to patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport medications, supplies, and equipment safely and efficiently to and from various hospital wards and pharmacy areas.
- Assist with the stocking, inventory, and rotation of medications and supplies in designated pharmacy areas and automated dispensing cabinets.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of pharmacy work areas and equipment to ensure a sterile and organized environment.
- Process incoming medication and supply deliveries, verifying accuracy against purchase orders.
- Assist pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with clerical duties, including filing, data entry, and answering phones.
- Maintain accurate records of medication distribution and returns.
- Prepare medication orders for delivery, ensuring proper packaging and labeling under the supervision of a pharmacist or technician.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including those related to medication safety and infection control.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and record-keeping
- Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, and push carts for extended periods during night shifts
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a pharmacy or hospital environment
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Completion of a Pharmacy Technician program or equivalent training
