Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Hardware Store Yard Assistant to join our dynamic team in Walthamstow. This outdoor retail role is critical to the smooth operation of our store, ensuring our yard is organized, safe, and well-stocked for our customers and delivery drivers. You will be responsible for handling a variety of building materials, assisting customers with loading, and maintaining a tidy and secure environment. This is an immediate hire position, ideal for someone eager to start a career in retail and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and organize stock in the outdoor yard area, ensuring products are easily accessible and stored safely.
- Assist customers with loading heavy and bulky items into their vehicles.
- Receive and unload deliveries of building materials, checking for accuracy and damage.
- Operate manual handling equipment safely (e.g., pallet trucks, sack barrows).
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the yard, including sweeping, clearing debris, and managing waste.
- Perform routine safety checks on yard equipment and report any issues.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Provide friendly and efficient service to all customers and colleagues.

- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy items repeatedly.
