Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Cybersecurity Analyst to join our Remote Security Operations team. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to contribute to Google’s robust security posture from anywhere in the UK. As a Google Cybersecurity Analyst, you will play a crucial role in monitoring, detecting, analyzing, and responding to cybersecurity threats and incidents across our global infrastructure. You will work with cutting-edge tools and technologies to protect Google’s data, systems, and users from evolving cyber threats. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a passion for cybersecurity.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform continuous monitoring of security systems and alerts to identify potential threats and anomalies.
- Investigate and analyze security incidents, determining root causes and recommending remediation strategies.
- Respond promptly to security alerts and incidents, following established protocols and procedures.
- Utilize SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) tools to correlate events and detect sophisticated attacks.
- Participate in threat hunting exercises to proactively identify vulnerabilities and malicious activities.
- Develop and maintain incident response playbooks and documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering and IT operations, to implement security controls and best practices.
- Stay current with the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies.
- Provide clear and concise incident reports and post-incident analysis.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) or similar cybersecurity role.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems (Linux, Windows), and cloud environments (GCP, AWS, Azure).
- Proficiency with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, ELK Stack, Chronicle) for log analysis and event correlation.
- Experience with incident response methodologies and forensic analysis.
- Knowledge of common attack vectors, malware analysis, and threat intelligence.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and data analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CEH, GIAC GCIH, or GCFA.
- Experience with security automation and orchestration (SOAR) platforms.
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) security services.
- Experience working in a large-scale enterprise environment.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001).
