Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Intern to join our team at Toyota Manufacturing Texas. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment, supporting our commitment to maintaining a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. The EHS Intern will assist in ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and other federal, state, and local EHS standards. This role is ideal for students pursuing a career in EHS, industrial hygiene, environmental science, or a related field, looking to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world industrial challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting regular EHS inspections and audits across the manufacturing facility to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues.
- Support the development and implementation of EHS training programs, specifically related to OSHA standards and company policies.
- Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the development of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Help maintain and update EHS documentation, including safety data sheets (SDS), permits, and compliance records.
- Research and interpret OSHA regulations and other environmental health and safety laws to ensure site adherence.
- Assist EHS specialists in monitoring environmental performance metrics and preparing reports.
- Collaborate with various departments to promote a strong safety culture and provide EHS guidance.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in EHS, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of OSHA regulations and EHS principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced industrial setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship or co-op experience in an EHS role.
- Knowledge of environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001) or safety management systems (e.g., ISO 45001).
- First Aid/CPR certification.
