Job Description
Are you an enthusiastic gamer with a keen eye for detail and a passion for discovering the next big indie hit? Join our team in Fremont, CA, as an EA Originals Indie Game Tester. This role offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the development cycles of diverse indie titles, providing critical feedback that directly influences game quality and player experience. You’ll work within a vibrant, creative environment, collaborating closely with developers and fellow testers to ensure EA Originals games meet the highest standards of playability and enjoyment. This is an on-site position designed for deep collaboration and engagement with our creative teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute detailed test plans and identify bugs, glitches, and design flaws across multiple game genres.
- Document, track, and re-test reported issues using bug tracking software (e.g., Jira).
- Provide constructive feedback on game design, usability, balance, and overall player experience.
- Collaborate with development teams to understand game features and testing requirements.
- Participate in daily stand-ups and team meetings to discuss progress and challenges.
- Contribute to the improvement of testing methodologies and processes.
- Perform ad-hoc testing and exploratory testing to uncover hard-to-find issues.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in video game testing or a related quality assurance role (1+ year).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with bug tracking software (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla).
- Deep understanding of various game genres and gameplay mechanics.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
- Strong passion for video games, especially independent titles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing games across multiple platforms (PC, console).
- Familiarity with game development pipelines and methodologies (Agile/Scrum).
- Basic understanding of scripting or programming languages.
- Portfolio of personal game projects or modding experience.
- Relevant certifications in QA or game testing.
