Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Land Management Intern for a Summer Field Rotation program. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of environmental consulting and land management within the Reno, Nevada region. The successful candidate will support field data collection, environmental assessments, and project coordination activities, working alongside experienced professionals on diverse projects. This role is ideal for students pursuing degrees in environmental science, ecology, natural resource management, or a related field, looking to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with field data collection, including vegetation surveys, soil sampling, and wildlife observations.
- Operate and maintain field equipment safely and efficiently.
- Support the preparation of environmental reports and documentation.
- Conduct research on relevant environmental regulations and best practices.
- Participate in site visits and project meetings.
- Perform data entry and analysis using GIS and other software tools.
- Contribute to general project support tasks as assigned by senior staff.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, Biology, or a related field.
- Strong interest in environmental consulting and land management practices.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various field sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous field experience or coursework in GIS, botany, wildlife biology, or hydrology.
- Experience with GPS units and field data collection applications.
- Knowledge of local and federal environmental regulations applicable to Nevada.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
