Job Description
Join Waste Management as an E-Waste Dismantler / Recycler in our state-of-the-art Cranston facility. This hands-on role is crucial for our mission to divert electronic waste from landfills. You will be responsible for safely and efficiently disassembling various electronic devices, sorting components for recycling, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. This is an indoor position requiring attention to detail, physical stamina, and a commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
- Manually disassemble a wide range of electronic devices (computers, monitors, printers, mobile phones, etc.) using hand and power tools.
- Identify and sort different materials such as plastics, metals (copper, aluminum, steel), circuit boards, and batteries for proper recycling streams.
- Safely remove hazardous components like batteries, mercury switches, and CRTs, adhering to all safety protocols and environmental guidelines.
- Operate balers, shredders, or other machinery as needed for material processing (training provided).
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to 5S principles.
- Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance as required.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Accurately track and record disassembled materials and weights.
Required Skills
- Ability to use various hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail for material identification and sorting.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Basic understanding of safety protocols and willingness to learn and adhere to environmental regulations.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Reliable and punctual.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or recycling environment.
- Knowledge of different types of electronic components and hazardous materials.
- Forklift certification or experience operating similar heavy equipment.
- High school diploma or GED.
