Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Hospital Logistics Operative to join our dynamic Distribution Centre team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely movement of medical supplies, equipment, and other essential items within our advanced logistics hub. You will play a crucial part in supporting patient care by ensuring our clinical teams have everything they need, when they need it. This role involves a mix of tasks including goods receipt, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch, all while adhering to stringent healthcare safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, check, and process incoming goods, verifying against purchase orders and ensuring accuracy.
  • Safely and efficiently store items in designated locations within the distribution centre, adhering to inventory management procedures.
  • Accurately pick and pack medical supplies and equipment according to requisitions for various hospital departments.
  • Prepare items for dispatch, including loading and unloading vehicles as required.
  • Operate material handling equipment (e.g., pallet trucks, forklifts) safely and competently (training provided if necessary).
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment within the distribution centre.
  • Conduct regular stock checks and assist with inventory reconciliation.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, quality standards, and trust policies.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and other hospital departments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Identify and report any discrepancies, damages, or potential issues with stock or deliveries.

Required Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good physical fitness, capable of lifting and moving heavy items.
  • Basic computer literacy for inventory systems and record-keeping.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a logistics, warehouse, or distribution centre environment, particularly within healthcare.
  • Experience operating material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet truck license).
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
