Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Data Governance Manager to join our dynamic team in Nottingham. In this critical role, you will be responsible for defining, implementing, and enforcing data governance policies, standards, and processes across Experian’s extensive data landscape. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality, integrity, security, and usability of our data assets, enabling data-driven decision-making and compliance with regulatory requirements. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of data management principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the enterprise data governance framework, including policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Establish and enforce data quality rules and metrics, monitoring compliance and driving remediation efforts.
  • Lead the data stewardship program, assigning data ownership and accountability to business stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, and information security teams to ensure adherence to data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and internal security policies.
  • Manage and maintain the enterprise data catalog and business glossary, promoting data literacy and understanding.
  • Facilitate data governance council meetings, presenting updates, resolving issues, and gaining consensus on data-related initiatives.
  • Define and implement data lineage and metadata management processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for data governance processes and tools.
  • Provide expert guidance and training to business and technical teams on data governance best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a dedicated data governance or data management role.
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK) and best practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and data security principles.
  • Experience with data quality management, metadata management, and data cataloging tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive change.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data analysis and validation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CDMP, CIPP).
  • Experience in the financial services or information services industry.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies.
  • Project management experience with a focus on data initiatives.
  • Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration).
